The short version: Wayfinder keeps what it knows about your servers on your Mac. It has no account and no analytics, and it sends nothing about you or your servers to VersaMinds.
Responsible for the personal data described here (the controller) is VersaMinds BV, Petrus Van Bavegemstraat 17, 9200 Dendermonde, Belgium, enterprise number BE 0804.360.325, privacy@versaminds.live.
The app
Wayfinder connects only to the hosts, storage and clusters you open, using the OpenSSH that comes with macOS and your own settings for it. What it reads from them is shown on your Mac and is not sent anywhere else.
- Hosts, groups, snippets and workspaces, with hosts' notes and descriptions, tunnels and storage connections (without their secrets), are saved in Wayfinder's own files in your Mac's Application Support folder. If you keep them in iCloud Drive, they are in your own iCloud Drive, so they appear on your other Macs. VersaMinds cannot read them.
- Passwords and secrets (SSH and sudo passwords you choose to save, FTP passwords, S3 secret keys, an assistant's API key) are kept only in the macOS keychain of each Mac. They never travel with your synced files.
- The activity log records the commands and file operations Wayfinder runs for you, on your Mac only, so you can see what was done.
- Transcripts of terminal sessions are written only if you turn them on in Settings, to a folder only you can read, and are removed after 90 days unless you choose otherwise.
- Crash reports stay on your Mac. After a crash, Wayfinder offers to open the report macOS kept, so you can attach it when you write to us. Nothing is sent by itself.
- Help › Contact Support opens a new mail in your mail app, addressed to support, with the Wayfinder version, your macOS version, the kind of Mac and your licence number filled in so we can help. It is yours to read, change or not send.
- Updates: Wayfinder asks VersaMinds whether a newer version exists. Like any web request, this shares your IP address, and it says which version of Wayfinder you have. Your Mac's model and macOS version are not sent. You can turn the check off.
The assistant
Ask about a host is off until you choose a model in Settings: your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, a gateway such as LiteLLM, or Ollama on your own network. When you ask a question, your question and the output of the commands it runs on the host are sent to that model, and only to that model. What looks like a password, token or private key is removed first. Settings lists everything it is sent. The model's provider handles that data under its own terms.
A debug session (Shell › Start Debug Session) records what your terminals show and what you type into them, with the assistant's steps, on your Mac only, until you end it. Only if you choose Write Up is that record sent to the model you chose, with what looks like a secret removed first. While it records, a question you ask the assistant also takes along what was typed and run in every tab since it started, unless you untick it. Delete a session in Window › Debug Sessions and nothing of it is kept.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no scripts and loads nothing from other companies: no analytics, no fonts, no tracking pixels. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which also serves the downloads and the update check. Like every web server, the service that hosts it records technical details of each request (such as your IP address, browser and the page asked for) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. VersaMinds does not use those records to identify or profile visitors.
If you leave your email address to hear when Wayfinder comes to Windows or Linux, it is stored by Cloudflare for VersaMinds, used for that one email, and deleted afterwards. Write to privacy@versaminds.live to have it deleted sooner.
Buying a licence
Orders are handled by Paddle.com, our reseller and the merchant of record, which takes the payment and sends the invoice. Paddle is responsible for the payment details you give it, under its own privacy policy; VersaMinds never sees your card. Paddle passes VersaMinds your name, email address, country, and your company and VAT number if you give them, so we can issue your licence and help you. We keep them as long as Belgian tax and accounting law requires.
Your licence is emailed to you by Brevo, a service in France that sends mail for us, and a copy of it is kept with Cloudflare so we can send it again if you lose it.
Your licence carries the name, email address and company it was issued to, and stays on the Macs you enter it on.
When you write to us, we keep the mail to answer it and for as long as it may matter for your licence or support.
Why we may use it
- To issue and support your licence: because it is needed for the contract with you.
- To keep records of sales: because tax and accounting law requires it.
- To run and protect this website: VersaMinds' legitimate interest in a site that works and is not abused.
- To send the one email about Windows or Linux: because you asked for it, which you can withdraw at any time.
Cloudflare (which hosts this site, the sign-up form and the copy of your licence) is a United States company; data it holds for us is protected by the safeguards the GDPR requires for that, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we have about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive it in a form you can take elsewhere, or to object to how we use it. Write to privacy@versaminds.live; we answer within a month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be) or the authority where you live.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date. For questions about privacy, write to privacy@versaminds.live.
